Many of God's creatures walk upon the beach: Above; Sand Crabs. Below; Man and Man's best friend in both pictures below.
That afternoon the masses return to beach to enjoy the sun, the salt spray and their activities: Above and Below.
To the north of where we stayed at Barrier Island Station is a tract of oceanfront land owned by the US Army Corps of Engineers' Field Research Facility used to better understand the effects of the energy within the ocean; most notably waves. This 173 acre compound does allow the public, at 10:00 am each weekday, to take a walk on their magnificently sturdy concrete pier, which is a major component of this facility: Above. The Brown Pelicans use the cushion of air to glide upon the calmer seas: Below.
These next images represent the cleanest, clearest water that I have ever witnessed on a North Carolina, South Carolina or Georgia beach. Notice the rich, alluring colors of the water as the waves break right at the water's edge; another anomaly: Above and below.
To be young again. What a wonderful luxury? This picture reminds me so much of my youth: happy, carefree and in love with a beautiful woman. Its a good image, a fond memory: Above.
As the sun sets on the shops of Duck, it also sets on this short vacation filled with many memories: all pictures above and below.
